How to avoid baby bites while breastfeeding
Each time I tried nursing my little baby, he bites on my nipples and that hurts really bad. He is just 8 weeks and haven't gotten any tooth yet, so am wondering how painful this is going get when the real teeth comes up. I have been doing exclusive breastfeeding which has been going on very well for us, even though at first it was extremely stressful as first time mom I tried my possible best to keep up with my baby's feeding because he has a huge appetite.
So wondering why he clenched on my nipples with his gum whenever am nursing him, the pediatrician told me so many reasons why such happens.A baby who is nursed in the proper way do not bite on the nipple, not all babies bite, those who bites always reacts when you startle and may never bite again why some enjoy biting on the nipples just to ease themselves and may never break the habit. When the nipple is positioned far back into his mouth, its going to be a lot easier for both mom and the baby. Breastfeeding should not hurt. If it hurts, take your baby off the breast by putting your finger between the baby gums to break the suction. Do the following;
Avoid staying in a room that has so much distractions so that baby can concentrate on sucking rather than getting distracted and ending up biting the nipples.
Babies bits nipples sometimes if they can't get enough milk while sucking. To avoid this, make sure you take enough fluid before nursing your baby so that your body can produce enough breast milk for baby.
