Easy Home Remedies For Treating Baby Cough

When your child have a cough caused by a cold virus it may be very stressful for you watching your precious baby go through this. But when your child is coughing so hard and uncomfortable that he vomits each time you feeds him then that is not a good sign. Babies sometimes struggles with cough which can be caused by a fluid secretions and mucus usually found in the windpipe and lungs which is the lower respiratory tract.
There are common causes of cough which include infections and asthma. Anybody can get a cough even in people without asthma, coughing is just the way her body clears out the lungs. Children having Allergies  when  inhaling pollen, dust, pet dander, and other airborne irritants can also triggers cough along with symptoms such as stuffy nose and sneezing.

Put the baby in a sitting position or have the child sit up for a while, always use cool mist vaporizer or humidifier in the room where your child sleeps. It helps to clear congestion or moisturize dry nasal passageways by turning water into steam and then transmits that steam into the surrounding atmosphere.  This will help your baby to breathe less congested air.

Give the child more fluid like warm water or tea, this will help sooth her throat.
If you are breastfeeding your baby or using formula, feed her more often but try as much as possible not to overfeed her.
When to call the doctor:
  1. If the baby is younger than 4 months old and have a cough
  2. If the baby is more than 4months and develops a dry cough resulting from cold and it lasted more than 5 days.
  3. When baby have a fever and his body temperature is about 100 degrees or more.
  4. When the baby starts wheezing or struggling to breathe.
  5. When she keeps vomiting at every feeding.
